江戸切子の技法の一つに「平切子」という技術があります。硝子を平らに削る技法でとても希少な技術です。加工できる職人は全国に10名程度しかいません。私は「平切子」をもっと世の中に知ってもらいたいと思い、「サンドブラスト」とかけ合わせ、日本の象徴である美しい富士山をモチーフにしました。底面をななめに削り、グラスを傾けることで頂点を三角形にし富士山に見立てました。上部はサンドブラスト加工で被せガラスの色を取り、艶を消すことで富士山の雪を表しています。

Fujisan Glass - Motonori Katsuyama

Edokiriko is one of the traditional crafts of Japan. I chose Mount Fuji as known as a symbol of Japan for the motif of this glass. I designed this glass diagonally to describe as a mountain. This glass was made by GLASS-LAB in Tokyo. This unique diagonally cut was made by using traditional cut technology called Hiragiriko which is a kind of Edokiriko. In addition, upper part of this glass was shaved by sand blasting technology to represent snow on Mt.Fuji.
